Build GeoDa from Source

You can build GeoDa on Linux by following the instructions: https://github.com/GeoDaCenter/geoda/tree/master/BuildTools/ubuntu

AppImage FUSE Error (Ubuntu 22.04+)

On Ubuntu 22.04 and later (and some other distributions), libfuse2 is not installed by default, so double-clicking the AppImage fails with a FUSE error. This is true of every AppImage, not just GeoDa. To fix it, install libfuse2:

sudo apt install libfuse2

Run the AppImage Without Installing libfuse2

Alternatively, you can run the AppImage without installing libfuse2:

./GeoDa-*.AppImage --appimage-extract-and-run

Supported Linux Systems

The AppImage is built for 64-bit Linux and bundles its dependencies, so it runs on most modern 64-bit Linux distributions, including Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, openSUSE, and Arch Linux. The only system requirement is FUSE (see the note above).
